Empowerment Hub
Catheter Training
Our catheter training empowers individuals with Spina bifida to master Clean Intermittant Self Cathetrization (CISC). This skill promotes independence and helps maintain health. We guide you every step of the way through our resources, information, guidance and support.
With our hands-on training, youʼll learn effective techniques and best practices. Our experienced instructors provide personalized support, ensuring you feel confident and comfortable. Say goodbye to worries and hello to freedom!
We guide you on minimizing Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) and managing them when they occur, along with catheterization. UTIs are like occupational hazards; you can reduce their frequency but can’t completely avoid them.
We educate individuals with Spina Bifida on both types of urinary incontinence and how to manage them. Since most people with Spina Bifida experience Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI), we provide guidance on all available medical and surgical options for both males and females.
We offer easy-to-follow resources and video demonstrations that you can access anytime. At Sasha, we strongly oppose surgical procedures for catheterization and Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI). Instead, we prioritize a non-surgical, conservative approach.
Bowel Management
Our Bowel Management program equips individuals with Spina bifida with essential skills for effective Bowel Irrigation or TAI and Digital Evacuation. Gain control and improve your comfort while enhancing your daily life with our expert guidance!
At Sasha, we recognize that most individuals with Spina Bifida experience severe constipation. We view this as a blessing in disguise because, in many cases, the lack of anal tone makes it difficult to control the consistency of fecal matter. Constipated stool helps reduce accidents, leading to a more confident personal and love life. The key is to maintain a level of constipation that prevents accidents without hindering stool evacuation. At Sasha, we guide you on how to achieve and maintain this balance.
At Sasha, we strongly oppose the Malone Antegrade Continence Enema (MACE) procedure for bowel management. Instead, we prioritize a non-surgical, conservative approach. Some healthcare providers often promote both the MACE (for bowel) and Mitrofanoff (for bladder) procedures as a package for individuals with SB, without first allowing them to try conservative methods.
These two surgeries are often recommended to SB children and parents think that these will help them and they opt for them. Please let your children grow and decide for themselves. We are here to help.
